4: This Week in the News

Researchers, there's a lot going on in the world right now. President Obama has said that he believes we should take action against Syria. Yesterday, 9/11, marked 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. A 22 year old man confessed to killing a man drunk driving on Youtube, in a video that would later go viral. Take a look at a reliable  news source and then post about a story in the news that you would like to discuss! If someone has already started a discussion about something you'd like to talk about--you may respond to them and share your thoughts as your post. Remember that this should be appropriate and academic discussion (ask questions, bring up new ideas, share your thoughts!)

Happy Writing!

3: What YOU'VE Learned

While research is the act of looking again, the act of asking questions and seeking answers--research relies upon what we know. The key is that we begin with knowledge. Who we are and what we know drives what we choose to research and how we research it. In the style of Monet's poem, what do you know? Please post your poem when you have completed it. Be prepared to respond to 2 peers poems with warm feedback and questions by Tuesday, September3 before the start of class.

2: What I've Learned

Aja Monet, in her poem "What I've Learned," shares with her audience a great deal about herself using incredibly vivid language and selected moments from her past. Which line did you find to be most powerful? Why? What do you think this line says about the author and her experience? Feel free to share other thoughts about the poem and Monet's overall message.

Welcome!

Welcome to our Research Blog! "Research" comes from French and dates back to 1740. It literally translates to "to seek again." Our work this year will be based around seeking answers to questions. For our first post, I'd like to you begin by "signing on." (Ex. This is Ms. Hughes signing on.) Then, I'd like you to think of a question--something you wonder about that has a searchable answer. Post it. (Ex. Who produced the last album by...or where does the saying "Step on a crack break your mother's back come from?") Welcome to our online community!
